The problem with the internet is that coding standards are haphazard at best, and it’s only in recent years that web technologies have polarized in to key groups. Browsers such as Internet Explorer, Safari, Firefox, and Opera each have specific methods for displaying a page. Up to 30% of internet users still use Internet Explorer 6, a browser which is now 8 years old!
All of these individualistic differences can cause problems at the implementation stage. Furthermore, it is commonplace for websites to use JavaScript based effects for incorporating live database interaction, graphical effects such as fading, and drag-and-drop functionality. Unfortunately the reality is that many web agencies simply do not consider these factors, which in turn affects usability, navigation, and presentation.
