Engineering
Many of our clients require on-site engineering to save on both time and resources. Obscuresounds utilises a number of mobile multi-channel DAW’s such as the RME Fireface, and the industry standard Sound Devices 744T which, along with our engineering experience, can attain the best possible quality recording within a given space.

Situations where speech is necessary or sound for broadcast & film will most likely require this service.

In Depth
Often in cases where live speech or interviewing takes place it is imperative that the dynamics of a vocal are kept under control to account for plosives, extraneous noise and gain for maximum depth of quality. Within mobile situations the job is often made harder by the shape of a particular room, or even the materials of the wall. Furthermore, corporate events such as award ceremonies will require a series of microphones to cater for the audience, as well as for the speaker.

Typically, our engineering services fall in to two distinct categories. For companies where time is often precious, we offer the ability to do on-site recordings from within the client’s business property. This is often the case for voiceover or speech, where editing can begin straight after the recording session has finished. It also means that CEO’s can be at hand to assess the results. Please note that this service requires a prior meeting to assess the location, and test for reverberation issues.

The second option is catered for corporate events; where filming is used in conjunction with audio engineering in order to attain a professional grade video for company use. For the majority of situations, a minimum team of 2 people is needed to cater for audio and video options. Audio is often done in a ‘double MS’ configuration. MS microphone 1 (stereo) is used to capture clarity and detail, MS microphone 2 (stereo) is used for room ambiance and the final microphone is used for the event speaker.

The Setup
Obscuresounds utilises leading industry microphones for such events, including the Neumann M149, Neumann U87 (x2), and Sennheiser 416. The Sound Devices 744T recorder ensures that the audio chain is kept to a minimum. For extreme tasks, Obscuresounds also use the RME Fireface 800 for further control and on-site editing via digital mixing.
